The first trailer for Season 2 of Peaky Blinders has been released.
The series, which returns to BBC Two in October, catches up with Cillian Murphy’s Brum crime boss Thomas Shelby as he heads into perilous territory at the start of the roaring 1920s.
The Beeb’s series won acclaim with its first set of episodes, not just because of Steven Knight’s writing – he went on to make the fantastic Locke, just released on VOD – and the direction from Sherlock veteran Colm McCarthy but also the supporting cast, which includes Helen McCrory.
Now, Knight will reunite with his Locke leading man, as Tom hardy joins the ensemble, alongside Noah Taylor and Charlotte Riley.
Season 2 will see Shelby set his sights on wider horizons, bringing him into contact with both the upper echelons of society and new adversaries from London, while his home turf of Birmingham is beset by an enemy from his past.
Viewers will have the chance to catch up on Peaky Blinders Season 1 on BBC iPlayer from 11.20pm tonight, when the show is repeated on BBC Two.
