Oscars 2025: Anora leads the winners
David Farnor | On 03, Mar 2025
The winners for the 2025 Oscars have been announced, and Anora emerged as the big winner of the night.
Netflix’s Emilia Pérez went into the night leading the pack, with a historic 13 nominations – Best Film, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. Nonetheless, it couldn’t compete with Sean Baker’s romantic comedy, which ended up winning Best Picture and Best Director, as well as Best Editing, Best Actress for Mikey Madison and Best Original Screenplay.
Close behind it was The Brutalist, which won Best Actor for Adrien Brody, Best Original Score and Best Cinematography. Conclave and A Real Pain scooped the other big prizes of the night – Best Original Screenplay for Peter Straughan and Best Supporting Actor for Kieran Culkin.
While I’m Still Here was named Best International Film, Netflix’s genre-bending musical still took home two big awards, including Best Original Song and Best Supporting Actress for Zoe Saldaña. MUBI’s The Substance, naturally, won Best Make-Up and Hairstyling.
