Netflix commissions Season 2 of Scrotal Recall
30th March 2016
Netflix has ordered Season 2 of Scrotal Recall.
The sitcom, which was broadcast in the UK on Channel 4 way back in 2014, was snapped up by the streaming giant for release in the US and Canada last year. The show evidently proved popular as now, Netflix is teaming up with BBC Worldwide to produce a second season of the show, which will debut globally on Netflix.
Clerkenwell Films will produce the new season exclusively for Netflix with series stars Johnny Flynn, Antonia Thomas and Daniel Ings all returning to reprise their roles.
If you missed it two years ago, Season 1 of Scrotal Recall follows the exploits of hapless 20-something Dylan Witter (Flynn) who, after receiving a troubling diagnosis, resolves to contact everyone he’s ever slept with to tell them the news. Each episode focuses on Dylan reaching out to a different girl from his past, which gives him the opportunity to look back on his neurotic mess of a love life and figure out where it all went wrong – all the while missing his most obvious hope at true love that has been under his nose the whole time. Joining him on this trip down memory lane are best friend Evie (Thomas), and ladies’ man Luke (Ings). They’ve been by Dylan’s side for years, picking up the pieces after each romantic car crash.
Series creator Tom Edge returns as writer for the new run and serves as Executive Producer along with Murray Ferguson, Andy Baker and Ed Macdonald. Season 2 will consist of eight episodes and will be released later this year. The announcement follows a similar move by Netflix with Channel 4’s Black Mirror, which the VOD company acquired for US distribution, before ordering a new run and snapping up the exclusive global rights to the show.
Update April 2016: Season 1 of Scrotal Recall is now available to watch on Netflix UK.
