Orange Is the New Black has been renewed for a fourth season.
It seems that Netflix cannot get enough of the ladies from Litchfield: the streaming service has announced that the show will return once more for a fourth run of episodes. The commission arrives before the third season has even been released, a trend that has turned into a habit for Netflix.
The company gave the green light to Season 3 before Season 2 had premiered and did the same for its second season: a sure sign that the streaming giant is confident in its much-loved inmates. The confidence appears increasingly justified: according to one study by a third party, Orange Is the New Black was Netflix’s most-watched original series in 2013, while the series has garnered more than 20 awards, including three Emmy Awards, two SAG Awards, two AFI honors, three Critic’s Choice Television Awards, one NAACP Image Award, one PGA Award, two GLAAD Media Awards, a Peabody Award and a Television Critics’ Association (TCA) Award.
Alex, Piper, Red, Crazy Eyes, Taystee, Poussey, Sophia, Nicky, Daya, Gloria, Big Boo and Pennsatucky will all return for Season 3 on Friday 12th June. Who will be back to spend a fourth spell behind bars? We’ll have to wait another year to find that one out. Just don’t be surprised if that’s accompanied by the announcement of Season 5 too.
