With the Tokyo Olympics postponed to 2021 from the originally planned dates of 24th July to 9th August, the BBC is giving fans their sporting fix by replaying highlights from Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016.
After three days of Beijing highlights on BBC Two, that kicks off properly tonight with the broadcast of a director’s cut of the London 2012 opening ceremony, which was directed by Danny Boyle. It features extended highlights of the ceremony including all the unforgettable moments like ‘Her Majesty’ parachuting into the stadium with James Bond, Rowan Atkinson performing with the London Symphony Orchestra, David Beckham delivering the Olympic torch in a speedboat, the lighting of the cauldron and the best moments from the athletes’ parade.
