NOW TV adds HD streaming with Boost add-on

NOW is now available in full HD for the first time, with a new Boost add-on feature launched this week.
NOW V is an over-the-top streaming service that offers the best of Sky TV to subscribers in the UK without a contract. A NOW Entertainment Membership, for £8.99 a month, includes Sky One, Sky Living, Sky Atlantic, Sky Arts, GOLD, Comedy Central, SyFy, ITV Encore, MTV, Challenge, Pick, Viceland, Discovery, Nat Geo Wild, ABC Studios and FOX UK. Subscribers can also get on-demand access to the entire Sky Cinema catalogue with a NOW Cinema Membership for £11.99 a month. Sky Sports passes offer live-streaming of Sky Sports channels without contracts for a range of time periods, including 24 hours, a week and a month.
Despite its range of TV and films, though, NOW has been lacking one crucial thing: the ability to stream things in full HD, with everything only available in a maximum resolution of 720p.
Now, NOW is adding 1080p video quality to any of its passes as an add-on that will enable full HD streaming. NOW Boost costs £3 month and lets you stream all the Sky Sports channels in 1080p, two Sky Sports channels – Main Event and Premier League – at a smoother 50 frames per second, Dolby Digital 5.1 support and the ability to stream on three devices (up from two) at the same time.
NOW Boost is supported by the NOW Smart Stick, any NOW Box except the white box, Roku Express or Roku Streaming Stick, selected Samsung TV models, PS4 consoles and the LG Web OS TV (50fps not currently available).
Presuming you have any of these devices, all the Sky Sports channels, all of Sky Cinema, all of the live Entertainment channels except Fox and Gold, plus selected box sets, and all of the live Kids channels except Cartoonito and Nicktoons, plus limited on-demand kids’ episodes, in 1080p.
NOW Boost is not currently available in Ireland, but is expected to roll out there in the future.
