NextUp to stream Chortle Comedy Book Festival

NextUp is teaming up with Chortle to stream this year’s Chortle Comedy Book Festival.
The event, which runs from 15th November to 22nd November, is now in its 6th year. Presented in partnership with The British Library and Waterstones, it will bring 20 shows packed with literary laughs to audiences across the UK. The UK’s biggest comedy book festival features such names as Frank Skinner, Adam Buxton, Laura Lexx, Mark Watson, Richard Herring, Matt Forde, Andy Hamilton, Grace Campbell, Stephen K Amos and more, who will be taking part in book readings, panel discussions and interviews.
Shows start at 5pm, 7pm or 9pm each night throughout the festival, with at least two shows a night. Each event lasts for 50 minutes, with tickets priced at £7 and limited to 200 per event. A festival pass is also available for £49, which gives access to every show, even when sold out, as well as a six-month NextUp subscription, free drinks from Two Brooks and a discount on all festival books from Waterstones.
Sarah Henley, co-founder of NextUp, says: “We are really happy to be partnering with Chortle on one of our favourite events in the comedy calendar. Online comedy is such a wonderful antidote to all the continuing pandemic misery out there. We have a fantastic lineup in store, but this has not been without its stumbling blocks; promoting diversity in live comedy is a huge driver at NextUp, and it seems ‘comedy publishing’ has even further to go to level the playing field. We have dedicated the evening of the 21st to discussions on how we can tackle this problem with real, concrete action, not just talk – including a book that NextUp are looking to commission (watch this space). We’re excited about it all and can’t wait to bring Zoom to life again come November, big thanks to our key partners in helping bring this event to the masses… in particular thanks to the British Library & Waterstones.”
NextUp is available on iOS and Android, Apple TV< Fire TV, Roku and Chromecast. A subscription normally costs £9.99 a month, with a seven-day free trial. Read on for the full line-up, or for more information on the festival and to book tickets, click here.
