The Defenders gets a new Comic-Con poster
David Farnor | On 16, Jul 2017
In almost exactly one month, The Defenders will arrive on Netflix – but before the series goes global, the show is heading to San Diego for this year’s Comic-Con. To celebrate, Marvel has unveiled a new poster for the series.
After the last poster, which gave the heroes the monochrome treatment with all the attitude of a 90s rock album, this new one brings a splash of colour to the streets of Hell’s Kitchen, capturing some of the graffiti-inflected vibe of the first pictures of the cast.
That cast, of course, is Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones), who will be teaming up to defend New York from the mysterious Alexandra (Sigourney Weaver). When the show lands, our ensemble will be joined by a plethora of familiar faces from the Marvel Netflixverse, including Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Scott Glenn as Stick, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, and Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing.
The new artwork, unveiled by EW this weekend, will be available to fans attending the convention, available on 20th July at the Defenders signing booth. Join us in admiring it below, or catch up on everything we know about The Defenders so far.
The Defenders lands on Netflix on Friday 18th August.
New poster brings together The Defenders in style
22nd June 2017
The Defenders are only a couple of months away from finally getting together – and, judging by the new poster just released by Marvel and Netflix, they’ll be doing it with style.
The crossover, which will see Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) team for a limited series, has been on the cards ever since Daredevil first fought his way on to Netflix two years ago. Back then, we had no idea who the other heroes of Hell’s Kitchen would be, but assembled on one poster, they look like they’ve been doing it for years – and, like a boy band from the 1990s, are about to release a greatest hits reunion album.
The new motions posters were unveiled overnight on the separate Twitter accounts for each show, all set to Nirvana’s Come As You Are, with The Defenders’ account also releasing the super-cool main poster. Scroll down to see them all.

New photos: The Defenders (plus Sigourney Weaver’s mysterious villain)
16th January 2017
In 2017, Marvel’s small screen word goes big, with all four of its Netflix series teaming up for one major seres: The Defenders. Now, we have our first look at the gang – plus Sigourney Weaver’s mysterious villain.
The Defenders are, of course, Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage and Finn Jones as Iron Fist. We’ll be seeing Iron Fist/Danny Ran in full action this March, but this first glimpse of Marvel and Netflix’s crossover event gives us an idea of what exactly throwing these disparate heroes together will be like. In a word? Gritty. In three words? Gritty and cool.
There’s already something exciting about Simone Missick’s Misty Knight from Luke Cage in the same room as Jessica Jones, while all the individual character photos have the visual style and attitude we’ve come to expect from the Hell’s Kitchen heroes. Facing them? Sigourney Weaver’s big bad, who has remained unnamed… until now.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, who also released the exclusive new photos of The Defenders, showrunner Marco Ramirez spoke about Weaver’s character, who is called Alexandra.
“Sigourney is the kind of person you can buy as the smartest person in the room, who you can also buy as a person holding a flamethrower. Her character is a very powerful force in New York City. She’s everything Sigourney is: sophisticated, intellectual, dangerous. I’m sorry. I can only say a bunch of adjectives right now.”
Adding that she is an “utter badass”, he noted that while Alexandra does not have any history in the comic books and has no code name, she does have an “intellectual sophistication” to rival Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio).
