“Running from your mum is so last year.” That’s the sound of Princess Bean returning to Netflix for Season 3 of Disenchanted.
Matt Groening’s animated comedy fantasy series, set in the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland, follows the misadventures of the hard-drinking young princess, her feisty elf companion, Elfo, and her personal demon, Luci. Along the way, the oddball trio encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools.
The series features the voice talents of Abbi Jacobson (Bean), Eric Andre (Luci) and Nat Faxon (Elfo) along with John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding, and Lucy Montgomery. Don’t mess with mummy. That’s the main message from Disenchantment, as it prepares to return for Part 3 in 2020.

“Disenchantment needs time to develop into something truly special,” we wrote in our review of Season 1. “Many of the best TV comedies take a while to create affection for the wider cast of characters. The Simpsons wasn’t just funny because Homer’s a drunken idiot, it was hilarious because it created a world full of memorable secondary characters. Groening’s latest is hit and miss, but it’s amusing enough to keep you watching and promises something far greater down the line. It has all the right ingredients for something magical.”
Netflix clearly agreed, already ordering more episodes of the show before Part 2 had even premiered. 20 additional episodes (split into two parts) will be released in 2020 and 2021. In another vote of confidence, the streaming giant has even signed an overall deal with Disenchantment’s staff writer Shion Takeuchi.
Now, Netflix has confirmed Part 3 is officially on the way next year, with this new teaser:
