“We’re in the this together. We fight like we do, because we’re badass bitches.” That’s the sound of Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini returning for a third and final season of Dead to Me this month – and a new trailer gives us a taste of what’s in store
Christina Applegate stars as Jen, who has been struggling to keep it together in the months since her husband was killed in a hit and run. Enter Linda Cardellini as Judy, a free spirit who finds common ground with Jen. The resulting bond that forms is as surprising to them as anyone else, especially when Judy’s past starts to surface.
Season 2 saw the plot thicken, with Detective Perez (Diana Maria Riva) complicating matters, and a third chapter was rapidly ordered by Netflix. Now, more than two years later, Jen and Judy are back in action one last time, with Season 3 premiering on 17th November. Here’s the trailer:

It’s not long now until Dead to Me returns to Netflix – and a new trailer gives us a first look at the show’s third and final season.
The comedy thriller, starring Christina Applegate, Linda Cardellini and James Marsden, follows a tightly wound widow and a free spirit with a shocking secret.
That, however, was more than two years ago, with the show’s return delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, then again due to a halt in production out of respect for Christina Applegate, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Now, though, it’s only a matter of weeks until Applegate and Cardellini are back on our screens, with Season 3 set to premiere on 17th November.
Here’s the trailer, which contains some spoilers for Season 2 as it provides both a quick recap of that run’s finale and a glimpse of what’s in store.
Netflix renews Dead to Me for Season 3
7th July 2020
Netflix has renewed Dead to Me for a third season.
The comedy series, starring Christina Applegate, Linda Cardellini and James Marsden, follows a tightly wound widow and a free spirit with a shocking secret.
Created by Liz Feldman, the show was promptly renewed for a second season, which premiered earlier this year. That saw the pair struggling to keep their secrets buried, with Detective Perez (Diana Maria Riva) hot on their heels.
“Jen and Judy’s strangely sweet friendship makes this dark, funny, unpredictable thriller as utterly compulsive as ever,” we wrote in our review.
Now, within a couple of months of that sophomore run arriving online, Netflix has ordered a third season. The bad news? It will also be the show’s last.
“From start to finish, Dead To Me is exactly the show I wanted to make,” Feldman said in a statement. “And it’s been an incredible gift. Telling a story sprung from grief and loss has stretched me as an artist and healed me as a human. I’ll be forever indebted to my partners in crime, my friends for life, Christina and Linda, and our brilliantly talented writers, cast and crew.”
