Netflix renews Dead to Me for Season 3

Netflix has renewed Dead to Me for a third season.
The comedy series, starring Christina Applegate, Linda Cardellini and James Marsden, follows a tightly wound widow and a free spirit with a shocking secret. Christina Applegate stars as Jen, who has been struggling to keep it together in the months since her husband was killed in a hit and run. Enter Linda Cardellini as Judy, a free spirit who finds common ground with Jen. The resulting bond that forms is as surprising to them as anyone else, especially when Judy’s past starts to surface.
Created by Liz Feldman, the show was promptly renewed for a second season, which premiered earlier this year. That saw the pair struggling to keep their secrets buried, with Detective Perez (Diana Maria Riva) hot on their heels.
“Jen and Judy’s strangely sweet friendship makes this dark, funny, unpredictable thriller as utterly compulsive as ever,” we wrote in our review.
Now, within a couple of months of that sophomore run arriving online, Netflix has ordered a third season. The bad news? It will also be the show’s last.
“From start to finish, Dead To Me is exactly the show I wanted to make,” Feldman said in a statement. “And it’s been an incredible gift. Telling a story sprung from grief and loss has stretched me as an artist and healed me as a human. I’ll be forever indebted to my partners in crime, my friends for life, Christina and Linda, and our brilliantly talented writers, cast and crew.”
