Netflix has released the trailer for Joshua: Teenager vs. Superpower, its latest Sundance acquisition.
The movie, which won the Audience Award at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival (World Cinema Documentary Competition), was snapped up by the streaming earlier this year.
Directed by Joe Piscatella, the film follows teenager Joshua Wong, who decides to fight for his homeland, when the Chinese Communist Party alters its promise of autonomy to Hong Kong – handed back to the Chinese government from British rule in 1997. Rallying thousands of kids to skip school and occupy the streets, and without a long-term plan but with passion to spare, Joshua becomes an unlikely leader in Hong Kong.
A portrait of courage, resilience, and the propulsive power of youthful idealism, the movie is released globally on Netflix on Friday 26th May. Read on for the trailer – or for more on what’s coming soon to Netflix UK in May, click here.
