“The universe finally found something worse than death.” That’s the sound of Natasha Lyonne unpacking Russian Doll once again for a second season.
The series stars Natasha Lyonne as Nadia, the young woman who was the guest of honour at a seemingly inescapable party one night in New York City – inescapable because no matter what she did, she kept dying and reliving it. Created by Lyonne, Amy Poehler and Leslye Headland, Season 1 drew on Lyonne’s own personal experiences to create a mind-bending odyssey.
Season 2 will continue to explore existential themes through a darkly comic sci-fi lens. Discovering a fate even worse than endless death, this season finds Nadia and Alan delving deeper into their pasts through an unexpected time portal located in one of Manhattan’s most notorious locations. At first they experience this as an ever-expanding, era-spanning, intergenerational adventure but they soon discover this extraordinary event might be more than they bargained for and, together, must search for a way out.
Is it about a family mystery to solve? Learning to enjoy the ride? Or just getting on board the crazy train without question? Find out when Season 2 premieres on 20th April. Here’s a trailer:

“When you the universe f*cks with you, let it.” Those the famous last words of Nadia, as she returns for round two of Russian Doll on Netflix.

“Dark, trippy and existential, Russian Doll is a lot more than just Groundhog Day with hipsters,” we wrote in our review. “It’s a show that benefits from repeat viewings and is likely to stay with you long after you’ve finished watching.”
Season 2 will pick pick up four years after the events of Season 1 and will see Nadia and Alan (Charlie Barnett) find themselves in a similarly unexpected existential crisis: they end up sifting through their pasts via a time portal in Manhattan.
