Netflix is heading down to Murderville this February, as the streamer looks to remake the BBC Three series Murder In Successville.
Hot on the heels of Netflix releasing Sexy Beasts, a dating series based on the BBC Three format that sees contestants wearing monstrous masks, the streamer is now taking inspiration from the channel’s innovative improvised crime comedy from Tiger Aspect Productions and Shiny Button Productions.
“One of the most unique things on TV at the moment,” we wrote in our review of the original series.
Murderville stars Arnett as Senior Detective Terry Seattle (Will Arnett), Homicide Division. For Terry, every day means a new murder case and a new celebrity guest star as his partner. But here’s the catch: each episode’s guest star isn’t being given the script. They have no idea what’s about to happen to them. Together, the guest star and Terry Seattle will have to improvise their way through the case… but it will be up to each celebrity guest alone to name the killer.
Alongside Arnett will be Haneefah Wood as Chief Rhonda Jenkins, Lilan Bowden as Medical Examiner Amber Kang, Phillip Smithey as Detective Darren ‘Daz’ Phillips, and guests stars that include Annie Murphy, Conan O’Brien, Ken Jeong, Kumail Nanjiani, Marshawn Lynch and Sharon Stone.
Arnett is an exec-producer alongside Marc Forman, Jonathan Stern, Peter Principato and Brian Steinberg, while Krister Johnson will serve as showrunner, writer and exec-producer. The US series is produced byElectric Ave, Abominable Pictures, Artists First and Sony Pictures Television.
The six-episode series will premiere on 3rd February.
