Marvel’s Daredevil set for October DVD release

Season 1 of Marvel’s Daredevil is heading to DVD and Blu-ray this October.
The show, which premiered on Netflix way back in April 2015, is a Netflix original produced by Marvel TV and ABC Studios.
Executive Produced by Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer), who replaced fellow Exec Producer Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods) as showrunner, we hailed the show in our reviews as a great crime drama in its own right, as well as a welcome addition to the Marvel universe.
“Daredevil sets the bar at a new high, both for superhero TV shows and Netflix’s ever-impressive library of original content,” we wrote. “This is Marvel, but not as we know it.”
Over its first 13 episodes, it follows the early escapades of crime-fighting lawyer Matt Murdock. Blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, he battles injustice in court by day and dons his Daredevil mask at night to clean up the streets of Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.
While the show formed the first of several building blocks in the formation of Netflix’s Hell’s Kitchen universe – with Jessica Jones, the upcoming Luke Cage and the eventual Iron Fist completing the set for a Defenders crossover event series – the show is leaping off the streaming service to find a home on disc. (You remember discs, right?)
It’s far from the first Netflix original to be released on DVD and Blu-ray, with Lionsgate’s Orange Is the New Black and Sony’s House of Cards both having their own physical media release. Indeed, Season 1 of Marvel’s Daredevil has been available to buy and rent online for some time, with the series already released on Amazon Instant Video, TalkTalk TV Store and iTunes.
Now, though, Zavvi has listed the series as coming to DVD and Blu-ray on 3rd October. The site has even listed a steelbook edition with artwork by Joe Quesada:
There is no word yet on any deleted scenes or additional content with the discs, but the good news for now is that fans of The Man without Fear will soon be able to display him proudly on their living room shelf. Season 1 and 2, meanwhile, are both available on Netflix UK, as part of an £9.99 monthly subscription. You can read our reviews of Season 2 here.
