Marisa Paredes and Blanca Suarez will star in A Pesar de Todo, Netflix’s new Spanish film.
The quirky, female-led comedy is directed by Gabriela Tagliavini (Cómo cortar a tu patán, Border Run) and produced by Teresa Fernández-Valdés and Ramón Campos (Las chicas del cable, Alta Mar). It sees Blanca Suárez (Cable Girls, The Bar), Amaia Salamanca (Tiempos de Guerra, Perdida), Macarena García (Holy Camp, La Otra Mirada), and Belén Cuesta (Paquita Salas, Holy Camp) play Sara, Lucía, Sofía and Claudia, four sisters whose lives and personalities are utterly different. After the death of their mother, Carmen (the legendary Marisa Paredes), their paths meet again in Madrid where they say their goodbyes. For a short period of time, they will have to put up with and come to understand each other whilst accepting themselves.
The rest of the screwball’s cast is completed by Rossy de Palma (Julieta, Lord, Give me Patience), Juan Diego (Can’t Say Goodbye, Nightfall in India), Maxi Iglesias (Asesinos Inocentes, Ingobernable), Carlos Bardem (Club de Cuervos, Pickpockets), Tito Valverde (El Príncipe, Que baje Dios y lo vea), Emilio Gutiérrez Caba (Palm Trees in the Snow, El árbol de la sangre) and Joaquín Climent (Skins, The Bar).
Teresa Fernández-Valdés says: “It’s exciting to know that our relationship with Netflix has only just begun. Starting this new project together and especially as this time it is a film, is really motivating as it will allow us to explore new genres together. We couldn’t be happier with the powerful cast that has joined the production. The story is very special and unique, we’re thrilled that Netflix has allowed us to create it just as we had imagined”.
Production of the movie is now underway.
