Lucifer Season 3 to premiere on Amazon in October

Lucifer Season 3 will return to UK TV screens this October, Amazon has confirmed – and he’ll be joined by a new cast member.
Entering its third season, the story of the original fallen angel is based on characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for Vertigo, from DC Entertainment. Tom Ellis stars as the titular archangel, who gives up his throne in the underworld for the underbelly of Los Angeles, where he helps the cops to punish criminals. He is joined by Lesley-Ann Brandt as devoted ally Maze, Lauren German as LAPD detective Chloe, Rachael Harris as Lucifer’s therapist, and DB Woodside as an angel trying to persuade Lucifer to return to Hell.
Tom Welling (Smallville) will join Series Three of Lucifer. Welling will play Marcus Pierce, an accomplished police lieutenant who is everything Lucifer is not – strategic, reserved and well-respected. But perhaps even more annoying are all the things they have in common. Both men are charming, charismatic and handsome. So when Pierce starts developing a connection with Decker (Lauren German), Lucifer’s devilish traits are inflamed.
Season 3 also picks up from Season 2, which saw Lucifer take care of a little problem called Mom, aka Charlotte (Tricia Helfer). Now, he’s facing an even greater challenge – finding out who kidnapped him and why his angel wings are back.
Season 3 of Lucifer will premiere in the UK on Tuesday 3rd October, with episodes then arriving exclusively on Amazon Prime Video weekly.
Lucifer heads to Los Angeles for Season 3
5th March 2017
Lucifer is heading back to Los Angeles, following its renewal for a third season this year.
Fox’s drama, which is based on Neil Gaiman’s DC Comics character and created by Californication’s Tom Kapinos, follows the titular archangel, who gives up his throne in the underworld for the underbelly of Los Angeles, where he helps the cops to punish criminals.
The cast is led by Once Upon a Time’s Tom Ellis as Lucifer, with Lesley-Ann Brandt as devoted ally Maze, Lauren German as LAPD detective Chloe, Rachael Harris as Lucifer’s therapist and DB Woodside as an angel trying to persuade Lucifer to return to Hell.
Amazon snapped up the rights to the show in the UK, with the first half of Season 2 premiering on Amazon Prime Video last year, before Fox ordered a full second run, which has continued at the start of 2017. It will return once more to finish its sophomore outing in May.
While fans are waiting for more of Tom Ellis’ charming villain, though, they can be pleased that there is still more to come in the future: Fox has already renewed the programme for a full third run of 22 episodes – a strong vote of confidence in the series’ performance.
Deadline reports that the show will also be heading back to the City of Angels once more, in another promising indicator of the series’ success. Fox filmed the pilot for the show in Los Angeles, but it has since relocated to the more affordable Vancouver to shoot its first two seasons. Now, Warner Bros. is moving things to LA, with the show reportedly submitted to the California Film Commission’s latest round of TV applications for tax credits – specifically for those relocating back to the area. Previous successful applicants include Fox’s Scream Queens and HBO’s Ballers.
Presuming all goes ahead, Lucifer will join Fox’s other LA series, Lethal Weapon, in the City of Angels. You can catch that on ITV in the UK. Lucifer, meanwhile, is still available on Amazon Prime Video.
