Netflix officially renews Lucifer for Season 6

Netflix has confirmed that a sixth season of Lucifer is officially on the way.
The series, which is based on comic book characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg, follows the original fallen angel (Tom Ellis) after he’s given up his throne in the underworld for the underbelly of Los Angeles, where he helps the cops to punish criminals. He is joined by Lesley-Ann Brandt as devoted, demonic ally Maze, Lauren German as LAPD detective Chloe, Rachael Harris as Lucifer’s therapist, and DB Woodside as Lucifer’s brother.
Resurrected after Fox canceled it following its third season, Lucifer rose again on Netflix last year, and was swiftly renewed for a fifth and final season. Extended to 16 episodes, that season will now premiere this August, Netflix announced this week, with the season set to be split into two sections.
Earlier this year, though, rumours swirled that executive producers Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson had been discussing the idea of another outing, and Netflix has now officially announced that Tom Ellis will return once more for a sixth run. The bad news for fans? It will definitely be the final season for the show. “Lucifer will return for a sixth and final season,” tweeted the show’s official account. “Like, FINAL final.”

Netflix is reportedly in talks for a possible sixth season of Lucifer.

Resurrected after Fox canceled it following its third season, Lucifer rose again on Netflix last year, and was swiftly renewed for a fifth and final season. Extended to 16 episodes, that season will be divided into two sections, with one of those at least expected this year.
That takes the series to a total of 77 episodes and five seasons, which technically makes it one of the longest-running Netflix originals to date. Now, though, fans will be hopeful for even more to come, with the streamer reportedly in talks to keep the show going even after its fifth run.
Sources have confirmed to Deadline that executive producers Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson have been discussing the possibility of a new deal for another outing for Lucifer and chums. That would see Tom Ellis and co go into production this September, although several cast members have already been approached for pilots and other new series, which means Warner Bros. TV and Netflix would need to act quickly to retain them.
