Locked Up Season 2 to premiere this April

Spanish prison drama Locked Up will return to UK TV screens this April.
The show, which is created Iván Escobar, Esther Martínez Lobato, Álex Pina and Daniel Écija, first premiered in Spain back in 2014, before arriving on our shores last year. That, of course, was thanks to Channel 4 and Walter Iuzzolino, who curated the broadcaster’s streaming service, Walter Presents, which is dedicated to foreign-language telly from around the world.
The first episode of the show premiered on Channel 4, with the rest released on Walter Presents immediately after broadcast, and it swiftly became one the site’s more popular titles.
Known as Vis-à-vis in Spain, it follows Macarena Ferreiro, a young woman who finds herself the wrong side of her mobster boyfriend and winds up in a high-security women’s prison. There, she finds herself on the trail of a stash of €9 million, buried by an inmate who has been bumped off – but that puts her in direct conflict with Zulema, the resident prison big-wig.
Now, as Walter Presents enters its second year, Locked Up is also back for a sophomore run, catching us back up with Macarena, who’s on the run with another female inmate.
The first episode of the second season will premiere in the UK on 2nd April at the BFI and RadioTimes Television Festival, with Walter Iuzzolino hosting a post-screening Q&A with star Berta Vázquez and co-creator Escobar. The series will then land in our living rooms later that month, with a debut once more on Channel 4.
Until then, check out what else is new and coming soon to Walter Presents.
