Blake Lively and Diablo Cody are teaming up for new Netflix film Lady Killer.
Lively will produce and star in the project, which is based on the comic book series of the same name.
Written by Joëlle Jones and Jamie S Rich – and illustrated by Joëlle Jones and colored by Laura Allred – Lady Killer has been published by Dark Horse Comics since January 2015 and was nominated at the Eisner Awards as Best Limited Series in 2016.
It follows Josie Schuller, who, by all appearances, is the perfect 1950s housewife. But when she’s not catering to the needs of her family, she leads a secret life as a highly trained killer for hire.
Diablo Cody (Tully, Juno) will adapt the series for the screen, with Lively to play Josie. Alongside Lively, the produces include Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg of Dark Horse Entertainment and Kate Vorhoff for B for Effort.
Netflix has a first look deal with Dark Horse Entertainment and has previously collaborated with Dark Horse on the action-comedy series Umbrella Academy and Jonas Åkerlund’s feature Polar. Upcoming adaptations include Mystery Girl directed by McG and starring Tiffany Haddish.
