Jungle Cruise will be getting the day-and-date Disney treatment this July, with the film set to debut on Disney+ on the same day as its cinema release.
Inspired by the famous Disneyland theme park ride, the blockbusting ride down the Amazon stars Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt.
It sees intrepid researcher Dr Lily Houghton travel from London, England to the Amazon jungle and enlists the skills of wisecracking skipper Frank Wolff to guide her downriver on La Quila — his ramshackle-but-charming boat. Lily is determined to uncover an ancient tree with unparalleled healing abilities — possessing the power to change the future of medicine. Thrust on this quest together, the unlikely duo encounters innumerable dangers and supernatural forces, all lurking in the deceptive beauty of the lush rainforest. But as the secrets of the lost tree unfold, the stakes reach even higher for Lily and Frank and their fate hangs in the balance.
Jaume Collet-Serra directs the film, which co-stars Edgar Ramírez, Jack Whitehall, Jesse Plemons and Paul Giamatti. The story is by John Norville and Josh Goldstein and Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, and the screenplay is by Michael Green and Glenn Ficarra and John Requa.
The film will debut in cinemas on Friday 30th July and will also be available on the same day on Disney+ with a Premier Access fee of £19.99. Johnson broke the news on Instagram.
The decision follows a similar move for Cruella (released on 28th May) and Black Widow (released on 9th July).
