Ju-On Origins: Netflix unveils The Grudge series

Netflix is bringing The Grudge into the box set age with a new series based on the classic Japanese horror film.
Released back in 2000, Takashi Shimiziu’s Ju-On: The Curse quickly spawned a franchise based around its ghostly story of a haunted, cursed house. A whopping 13 films followed, including several US remakes and sequels (most notably 2004’s The Grudge starring Sarah Michelle Gellar). In 2016, the franchise’s success was cemented with a J-horror crossover event pic, Sadako vs Kayako, pitting the Ju-on spirit against the iconic figure of The Ring.
Now, it’s getting its first ever drama series spin-off, with Ju-On: Origins. The Netflix series posits that Ju_On was actually based on real events that occurred over four decades. The truth, it claims, is even more terrifying. Can the people haunted by this house escape from its curse?
The show premieres on Netflix worldwide on 3rd July. Here’s the trailer:
JU-ON: Origins: Season 1 is available on Netflix UK, as part of an £9.99 monthly subscription.
