Jon Snow Game of Thrones sequel in the works at HBO

HBO knows something about Jon Snow, according to The Hollywood Reporter, with a Game of Thrones sequel following the fan-favourite character reportedly in the works at HBO.
The network has made no secret of its ambitions to recapture the popularity of the hit fantasy series, which ran for eight seasons. Since then, HBO has been pushing to expand the screen universe around George RR Martin’s novels, with three animated prequel projects in the work, including The Golden Empire, and a number of live-action prequels at various stages of development, including 10,00 Ships, 9 Voyages and Dunk and Egg – not to mention the House of the Dragon series, which arrives on our screens this August.
Warning: Spoilers for the Game of Thrones finale follow
The Jon Snow series would mark the first sequel to the blockbuster drama, and would see Kit Harington reprise his Emmy-nominated role as Jon Snow if it were to get the full green light. Harington’s good-hearted, noble outsider became one of the stars of the series as it continued, with him ultimately emerging as Aegon Targaryen, the heir to the Iron Throne, but becoming exiled from Westeros and heading North of the Wal with the Wildlings.
The series would be a surprising move from HBO in that it would stop Game of Thrones’ much-billed conclusion from being the end of the story, but with Martin having a deal in place at the network and Disney proving the appetite for character-driven solo spin-offs within both the Marvel and Star Wars universes, it’s perhaps inevitable that Jon Snow might be on our screens once again.
