ITV Player has launched on Windows Phone 8.
This week has seen the BBC roll out a large number of updates for its iPlayer apps. Not one to be left behind, ITV has joined the app-upgrading frenzy, finally launching ITV Player on Windows Phone 8.
The app, which is already available on iOS and Android devices, gives on-demand access to the last 30 days of content from ITV’s channels, as well as the option to stream them live.
Paul Kanareck, Director of Online and Brands at ITV, comments: “We are very excited to have launched the ITV Player app on Windows Phone 8 devices. Mobile is becoming an increasingly important route for audiences to access our content with over 50% of long form requests for the ITV Player coming from mobiles and tablets in 2013. We will continue to expand our reach across suitable devices going forward.”
Leila Martine, Director, Windows Phone at Microsoft, adds: “On Windows Phone we are committed to providing our customers with the most useful and innovative apps. Everyday we add around 500 apps to our store. We know people are increasingly watching their favourite programmes whilst out and about. This exciting new partnership with ITV will give our users instant, on the go access to their favourite ITV programmes. The modern design of the app embraces our operating system to give our users a fast and fluid experience. This, alongside a host of top features such as Live TV and playback from “Don’t Miss” and “Most Watched” playlists, takes TV viewing to the next level.”
