HBO’s Ballers has been given a UK air date of Tuesday 8th September.
The show, which stars Dwayne Johnson, premiered in the US on HBO in June and will be broadcast in the UK at 10pm on Sky Atlantic, when it will also be available to watch online. Sky customers will be able to stream the show through Sky Go and catch up post-broadcast on demand. Non-Sky customers will be able to stream it live, legally, through NOW. Sky’s VOD service offers its TV channels on a contract-free basis for £6.99 a month with shows from Sky Atlantic, FOX (The Walking Dead) and Sky 1 (Arrow) and more available both live and on demand after their broadcast. The site is currently offering a £1 monthly trial to new customers who sign up before 27th September.
The half-hour comedy spans 10 episodes and follows the lives of former and current football players. Johnson plays former superstar Spencer Strasmore, as he gets his life on track in retirement while mentoring other current and former players through the daily grind of the business of football.
Rob Corrdry, Omar Benson Miller, John David Washington, Donovan Carter, Troy Garity, Jazmyn Simon, and Arielle Kebbel also star. Ballers is created and executive produced by Steve Levinson, who is joined by fellow executive producers Mark Wahlberg, Peter Berg, Dany Garcia, Julian Farino, Evan Reilly and Rob Weiss.
