Golden Exits has been released straight to VOD in the UK, with Alex Ross Perry’s latest film now available to watch online on digital platforms.
This is only Ross Perry’s fifth film, but in the short space of time, the young filmmaker has announced himself an astute master of acerbic wit, awkward tone and wry humour. You can catch up with his breakout comedy Listen Up Philip on Netflix UK, which won the Special Jury Prize at the Locarno Film Festival in 2014, and his previous film, Queen of Earth, which won acclaim for its lead turn by Elisabeth Moss, is available on Sky Cinema and NOW.
As well as Moss, both feature Jason Schwartzman, and his newest drama once again reunites him with the Wes Anderson regular. Joining him are Chloë Sevigny and Adam Horovitz.
An intersectional narrative of two families in Brooklyn, Golden Exits charts the unraveling of unspoken unhappiness that occurs when a young woman spending time abroad upsets the balance on both sides. It follows Gwendolyn (Mary-Louise Parker), who hires her brother-in-law, Nick (Horovitz), to sort the papers of her famous father. Nick, in turn, hires Naomi (Emily Browning) to be his assistant for the summer, much to the displeasure of his wife, Alyssa (Chloë Sevigny). Naomi, meanwhile, has her eye on the married Buddy (Jason Schwartzman).
Shot on Super16 by Sean Price Williams, the result was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 2017. Now, you can buy and rent the film on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, TalkTalk TV, Virgin Movies, eir Vision Movies, Sky Store and Google Play.
