Trailer: Gina Rodriguez stays Awake on Netflix

Gina Rodriguez will be staying Awake on Netflix, as a new sci-fi thriller drops this June.
The film sees chaos ensue after a global event wipes out all electronics and takes away humankind’s ability to sleep. But Jill (Gina Rodriguez), an ex-soldier with a troubled past, may hold the key to a cure in the form of her own daughter.
The film is directed by Mark Raso, who most recently directed the Ed Harris-starring Kodachrome which sold to Netflix at TIFF 2017, and who won Slamdance in 2014 with the film Copenhagen. Mark co-write the script with his brother, Joseph, and Greg Poirier.
The film premieres on Netflix on 9th June. Here’s the trailer:

Gina Rodriguez is reteaming with Netflix once again for new film Awake.
The sci-fi thriller takes place after a sudden global event wipes out all electronics and takes away humankind’s ability to sleep, chaos quickly begins to consume the world. Only Jill, an ex-soldier with a troubled past, may hold the key to a cure in the form of her own daughter. The question is, can Jill safely deliver her daughter and save the world before she herself loses her mind.
The film is directed by Mark Raso, who most recently directed the Ed Harris-starring Kodachrome which sold to Netflix at TIFF 2017, and who won Slamdance in 2014 with the film Copenhagen. Mark co-write the script with his brother, Joseph, and Greg Poirier.
The trio will exec-produce alongside Gina Rodriguez, with other EPs including Mark Gordon, Josh Phillips, Matt Jackson and Whitney Brown. Joanne Lee is also on board as a co-executive producer. The film hails from production company Entertainment One, with Paul Schiff producing.
The film marks the fifth project Rodriguez has been attached to for the streaming giant, after previously appearing in Carmen Sandiego, Someone Great, Big Mouth and Annihilation.
