“How are the parents?” “The usual. Mum’s good. Dad’s a woman.”
That’s the unmistakable sound of the Pfeffermans returning for another season of Amazon’s Transparent, as a new, full trailer hits the web.
The Golden Globe-winning series, which was ranked the best TV show of 2014 by yours truly, will return in December for another bout of soul-searching, as the family continue to react to their father coming out as Maura.
Season 2 begins with a big, white wedding for Sarah and Tammy, but happy ever after is far from likely, as Sarah gets in touch with her deeper desires, Maura discovers the hardest part of her transition is still ahead, and Josh and Rabbi Raquel navigate their new relationship.
The whole of the original cast returns for the new season, including Golden Globe and Emmy winner Jeffrey Tambor (Arrested Development) as Maura, Judith Light as Shelly, Amy Landecker as Sarah, Jay Duplass as Josh and Emmy nominated Gaby Hoffmann as Ali.
The ensemble will joined by several other familiar faces: Anjelica Huston and Emmy Award winner Cherry Jones, as well as Kathryn Hahn (Parks and Recreation), Rob Huebel (I Love You, Man), Carrie Brownstein (Portlandia), Alexandra Billings (Socket), Tig Notaro (One Mississippi), Alex MacNicoll (Peace of Mind) and Trace Lysette (Bloody Mary).
Bradley Whitford (The West Wing) will also return to the series, as well as Melora Hardin (The Office), Michaela Watkins (Wanderlust), and Emily Robinson (A New York Fairy Tale).
“Our Pfeffermans realise they must give up their disguises, unspoken arrangements and secrets. By exploring their shared history and legacy, they come to understand that you can’t go forward without knowing where you come from,” comments creator Jill Soloway (Six Feet Under), who exec produces the show with Andrea Sperling (Like Crazy).
All episodes of Transparent Season 2 premiere on Friday 11th December on Amazon Prime Video in the UK, US, Germany and Austria. A third season has already been commissioned for 2016.
