First look: Legion Season 2 set for mind-bending return

Legion returns to UK TV screens this April for a second season, and new images of the show promise a typically mind-bending sophomore run.
Noah Hawley’s X-Men series follows David Haller (Dan Stevens), a haunted man with power beyond comprehension. His power does not come free, but at the steep cost of David’s mind. Plagued by numerous split personalities – each commanding a different aspect of his power – David is trying to find his way back to sanity. He was getting tired and about to give up, until he met the girl of his dreams (Rachel Keller) in Season 1.
The first season ended with Haller heading off into the unknown and Jemaine Clement’s Oliver becoming the new host of The Shadow King. Season 2 will see the Summerland gang taking on The Shadow King, with FX teasing the following details to EW: “With David and Oliver missing and Farouk on the loose, the team forms an unlikely alliance with their former enemy ‘Clark’ (Hamish Linklater) and his well-funded government organization, Division III.”
Speaking of The Shadow King, Hawley added: “It’s his way of hiding himself. I had this thought of, ‘What does Freddy Krueger do during the day?’ I thought it was interesting, the idea of the downtime of these characters. They’re not being used and so what is reality like for them? They’re being placated, that they’re in some place beautiful that may not actually be a physical space, it may be a mental space, like an astral plane. They have everything they need, they’re by the pool, it’s beautiful, but at a certain point, there’s part of them that realizes that they’re just trapped in this reality they don’t have any control over.”
Rachel Keller, Aubrey Plaza, Jeremie Harris, Bill Irwin, and Jean Smart will also return for the new season. That will premiere on FOX UK on 17th April, two weeks after its US air date. The season will run for 10 episodes.
Here’s the new trailer for Season 2, also released in the last week alongside the new images:
