Inside No 9 returns for Season 7 this April, and a new trailer gives us a first look at the programme’s return.
Produced by BBC Studios Comedy Productions and broadcast on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer, the new season will once again invite viewers into Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton’s world of the extraordinary and macabre. The group of six standalone tales will tread the line between horror and humour, from the Welsh valleys to an abandoned house, from kidnappers to detectives, and from a day trip out in a pedalo to a public information film.
Headlining Season 7 will be an impressive line-up of talent, including: Daniel Mays (Line of Duty, Good Omens), Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter, The OA), Sophie Okonedo (The Escape Artist, Britannia), Jessica Hynes (There She Goes, W1A), Diane Morgan (Mandy, Motherland), Daisy Haggard (Back To Life, Breeders), Annette Badland (EastEnders, Doctor Who), Siobhan Redmond (The Replacement, Unforgotten) and Ron Cook (Hot Fuzz, The Salisbury Poisonings).
Also joining them – and Shearsmith and Pemberton – will be the duo’s fellow co-creator, writer and star from The League of Gentlemen, Mark Gatiss (Sherlock, Dracula), who also appeared in their previous series, Psychoville.
Season 7 will begin with Merrily, Merrily, which stars Mark Gatiss and Diane Morgan. It follows Laurence, who has arranged a reunion with his old university chums Callum and Darren at a remote lake. It’s not quite what they were expecting, and Darren has even brought along his new girlfriend. But a lot of water has passed under the bridge since their college days, and as they strike out across the empty lake, the conversation takes them into choppier waters.
You can see the end result on 20th April at 10pm on BBC Two, with episodes then arriving weekly. Here’s the trailer:
