Fear The Walking Dead gets its first teaser trailer

The Walking Dead spin-off has been given its first teaser trailer – and now has a title to boot.
The show, which is set to begin late summer, will be set in the same universe as The Walking Dead, but on the other side of the country. It “will be set in Los Angeles and focus on new characters and shorelines”, AMC announced recently. Last night, to coincide with The Walking Dead’s Season 5 finale, they have revealed a trailer, confirming that it would be set before the events of the flagship zombie series, just as the virus starts its outbreak.
“Morning, Los Angeles! Hope you got your flu shot…” begins the teaser, which also makes the title rather apt: Fear The Walking Dead.
“IT’S OFFICIAL!” tweeted creator Robert Kirkman. “The walking dead companion show on AMC is called FEAR THE WALKING DEAD! Expect more news very soon!”
Kirkman is already on board the show as executive producer, alongside series stalwarts Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero and David Alpert. Kirkman has co-written the first episode with Sons of Anarchy’s Dave Erickson, who is both Executive Producer and Showrunner.
Fear The Walking Dead will star Cliff Curtis (Missing, Gang Related), Kim Dickens (Gone Girl, Sons of Anarchy), Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) and Alycia Debnam Carey (Into the Storm). Much like AMC’s existing programme, the new show will premiere with a first season of six one-hour episodes, with a second season scheduled for next year.
“I’m very grateful that we now have the opportunity to tell this amazing story and show the fans that we really haven’t scratched the surface yet when it comes to The Walking Dead,” said Kirkman in an official statement early this month.
AMC Global, the international AMC-branded television network, announced it has acquired the international television rights to the series, which it plans to air within 24 hours of the US premiere. AMC Global launched in late 2014 and is available in over 115 countries and territories throughout Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Update: AMC UK will be available exclusively on BT TV.
