Season 2 of Extant will premiere in the UK on Amazon Prime this July, hours after its US air date.
The sci-fi mystery, which stars Halle Berry, continues the story of astronaut Molly Woods, who returned from a year in space to discover that she was pregnant without knowing how. After the events of Season 1, she now finds out that she has unwittingly put the human race on a path to destruction. Jeffrey Dean Morgan joines the cast as JD Richter, a stranger who – along with Molly – could be the planet’s only hope for survival.
The series, which also stars Pierce Gagnon and Grace Gummer, is a co-production of CBS Television Studios and Amblin Television. Steven Spielberg, Liz Kruger, Craig Shapiro, Mickey Fisher, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Halle Berry and Brooklyn Weaver are executive producers.
The show made its UK debut on Amazon Prime Instant Video last July, with new episodes arriving on Amazon every week following their initial broadcast. Season 2 will adopt the same release model, with episodes arriving on Amazon Prime every Thursday, starting on Thursday 2nd July.
“We’re continuing to add major premium TV shows and movies to our service,” comments Jay Marine, Vice President of Amazon Prime Instant Video EU. “Last Summer Extant broke records on Amazon Prime Instant Video, quickly becoming the most watched premiere in our history. We’re delighted to be able to bring the next installment of this star-studded suspense thriller exclusively to Prime members in the UK.”
Season 1 is available to stream now, as part of a £5.99 monthly subscription. You can read our review of the very first episode here.
