Chris Rock to perform live stand-up special on Netflix

Chris Rock is taking Netflix’s comedy line-up into the live-streaming era with a live stand-up special.
The comedian, writer, director and actor will be the first artist to perform live on Netflix, and it’s telling that the streamer’s first live event on its platform is not a sporting event or music concert. The company has invested heavily in making it a go-to hub for stand-up comedy, hosting its own Netflix Is a Joke festival in 2022, which sold more than 260,000 tickets, featuring more than 330 comedians. Rock, meanwhile, is no stranger to Netflix, having released his stand-up special Tamborine on the service in 2018.
“Chris Rock is one of the most iconic and important comedic voices of our generation,” said Robbie Praw, Netflix Vice President of Stand-up and Comedy Formats. “We’re thrilled the entire world will be able to experience a live Chris Rock comedy event and be a part of Netflix history. This will be an unforgettable moment and we’re so honored that Chris is carrying this torch.”
The special will air in early 2023. Additional details will be announced at a later date.
