Chichester Festival Youth Theatre is streaming its production of Beauty and the Beast online for free this June.
A foolish prince cursed to a life alone in a castle; a kind and beautiful girl who asks her father for nothing but a rose. One must learn to love and be loved in return, the other needs to realise there’s more than meets the eye. You may think you know the story of Beauty and the Beast – a tale of magic, compassion and love – but director Dale Rooks has a few surprises in store in this version adapted from the original fairy tale by Anna Ledwich, with music and lyrics by Richard Taylor. Set designer Simon Higlett and costume designer Ryan Dawson Laight deliver a production full of musical numbers and some deliciously scary moments to entertain the whole family.
The production was filmed at Chichester Festival Theatre on 20th December 2017 by The Umbrella Rooms and originally streamed live to children in St. Richard’s Hospital, Chichester, and Worthing Hospital.
Now, the archive recording of Beauty and the Beast is available to view on the theatre website for free until 19th June. It is captioned for D/deaf audiences and Polish-language captions are also available, as well as an audio introduction for blind and visually impaired audience members.
