Marvel has confirmed that Charlie Cox will play Daredevil in the new Netflix mini-series.
The actor, best known for his lead role in Stardust and work in Boardwalk Empire, will play crime-fighting lawyer Matt Murdock. Blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, he battles injustice in court by day and dons his Daredevil mask at night to clean up the streets of Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.
The programme, produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios, will span 13 episodes and starts an exclusive run of Netflix superhero shows, all set within the world of Hell’s Kitchen.
Marvel’s first original series on Netflix is Executive Produced by Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus, Buffy: The Vampire Slayer), who recently replaced Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods) as showrunner. Goddard will stay on as an Executive Producer. Heroes’ Jeph Loeb will join DeKnight on writing duties.
Daredevil will premiere on Netflix in 2015.
