Bristol Old Vic Theatre is unwrapping a free Christmas treat for theatre fans this December: an online stream of its take on A Christmas Carol.
The turkeys are hanging in the butchers shop, the city is bedecked with holly, but Christmas Eve is a bleak night for miserly money-lender Ebenezer Scrooge. Before the night is through, he is visited by four ghosts who show him chilling portraits of his past, present and future. As the sun rises, will he come to see the bitter truth of his selfish life, learning kindness, compassion and, ultimately, the true meaning of Christmas?
You can find out once more in Tom Morris’ adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic fetsive tale. Directed by Lee Lyford and starring John Hopkins as Scrooge, with Stephen Collins as Bob Cratchit, Ewan Black as Marley and Mofetoluwa Akande as Belle, the hit adaptation is filmed live at the theatre and will stream at 6pm on Thursday 16th December.
The play will then be available for free online until 1st January. Watch it right here:
