blinkbox launches PS3 app

Movie and TV streaming service blinkbox has launched a dedicated PS3 app, giving nearly six million homes easy access to its video on-demand catalogue.
Tesco’s pay-per-view service is a strong platform, but has always suffered from a lack of support on the Sony console, relying on a clunky web browser-based solution to watch films and shows on PS3-connected TVs.
Now, though, blinkbox has added a new app to its roster of services for Smart devices, tablets, Macs and PCs. We had a play with it earlier this week and – while we’ll bring you a full review in the coming days – the result is really impressive.
The company has called the app “a key development in blinkbox’s ambition to be on as many of the most popular entertainment devices in as many homes as possible”. That ambition is scarily close to being realised – helped by the company’s deal earlier this year to become (currently) the only service with Game of Thrones available on-demand.
The app includes all the popular features of blinkbox apps on other devices including the ability to browse and buy from a vast library of titles, filter by Best Sellers, New Releases, Top Selling and Genre and use predictive search to find the movie or TV series you’re after.
