Watch: First trailer for Fleabag Season 2

“Don’t sleep with him.” “I don’t do that anymore.” “Why, are you ill?” That’s the sound of Fleabag returning – finally – for Season 2, and the new trailer for her return gives us a taste of what to expect. Namely, more of the same hilarious honesty, as she tries to distract from the “screaming void” inside her empty heart.
Created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the series has been an international smash hit, as the dry-witted, angry, cash-strapped, grief-riddled, porn-watching eponymous young woman has won over viewers in the US as well as the UK.
“We should rejoice that a delightfully offbeat, surreal and grubby little comic gem like this has been made,” we wrote in our review of Season 1.
Waller-Bridge will, of course, reprise her titular role in Season 2, alongside returning cast members Olivia Colman (Godmother), Bill Paterson (Dad), Sian Cliford (Claire), Brett Gelman (Martin), Jenny Rainsford (Boo) and Hugh Skinner (Harry). Joining them for Season 2 are Fiona Shaw and Kristin Scott Thomas, as well as Andrew Scott as a hot priest. Indeed, Season 2 picks up as Fleabag goes toe to philosophical toe with the old man upstairs. Fleabag and Claire, meanwhile, are brought together by an unexpected attack, and tensions rise as another side of her sister emerges. Further afield, Dad still can’t look Fleabag in the eye and Godmother slithers closer into the girls’ lives.
Season 2 premieres on Monday 4th March on BBC One at 10.35pm, part of the channel’s new block of programming dedicated to showcasing BBC Three shows from Mondays to Wednesdays. Episode 1 will also be available then on BBC iPlayer via BBC Three.

Fleabag Season 2 set for March premiere
16th February 2019
Fleabag will officially return for Season 2 this March.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s multi award-winning series, which is produced by Two Brothers Pictures, has been one of the Beeb’s biggest breakout shows. Based on her own Edinburgh play, it sees the comedian and actress play the dry-witted, angry, cash-strapped, grief-riddled, porn-watching eponymous young woman, who’s trying to come to terms with a recent tragedy.
“We should rejoice that a delightfully offbeat, surreal and grubby little comic gem like this has been made,” we wrote in our review of Season 1.
Shortly after its debut, Waller-Bridge announced at the Edinburgh Television Festival that Fleabag would be returning for a second outing. Returning to co-star is a cast that includes Olivia Colman (Godmother), Bill Paterson (Dad), Sian Cliford (Claire), Brett Gelman (Martin), Jenny Rainsford (Boo) and Hugh Skinner (Harry). Andrew Scott, Fiona Shaw and Kristin Scott Thomas.
Season 2 picks up as Fleabag (Waller-Bridge) goes toe to toe with the man upstairs. In an unexpected twist of fate, our lost little rascal meets a Priest (Scott) who jolts her into seeing the world in a different way. Fleabag and Claire, meanwhile, are brought together by an unexpected attack, and tensions rise as another side of her sister emerges. Further afield, Dad still can’t look Fleabag in the eye and Godmother slithers closer into the girls’ lives.
One year on, there are still old wounds to unpick and new ones to dress, as the next chapter of Fleabag’s life takes her to hell and back.
After months of waiting for a release date, BBC Three has officially confirmed that Season 2 will not be released on BBC iPlayer in February, as was speculated, but will premiere on Monday 4th March. As well as being available online through BBC iPlayer, Fleabag Season 2 will lead the launch of BBC Three’s new dedicated block of programming on BBC One, which will air BBC Three shows from 10.35pm on Mondays to Wednesdays each week.
Fleabag Season 1 is available on BBC iPlayer until May 2019. It is also available to watch online on Amazon Prime Video as part of a Prime membership or a £5.99 monthly subscription.
Kristin Scott Thomas and Fiona Shaw join Fleabag Season 2
25th January 2019
Fleabag is back for a second bite this spring, and the cast of the BBC Three comedy just keeps getting better, with Dame Kristin Scott Thomas and Fiona Shaw CBE set to guest star.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s multi award-winning series, which is produced by Two Brothers Pictures, picks up as Fleabag (Waller-Bridge) goes toe to toe with the man upstairs. In an unexpected twist of fate, our lost little rascal meets a Priest (Andrew Scott) who jolts her into seeing the world in a different way. A year on from the events of Season 1, there are still old wounds to unpick and new ones to dress, as the next chapter of Fleabag’s life takes her to hell and back.
Since the end of the last hilarious season – when her darkest secret was revealed and she nearly threw herself in front of a car – she’s back for more laughs than ever. Fleabag and Claire are brought together by an unexpected attack, and tensions rise as another side of her sister emerges. Further afield, Dad still can’t look Fleabag in the eye and Godmother slithers closer into the girls’ lives.
Joyful, bleak, poignant and sucker-punch funny, the original cast is joined by a car-crash of new characters as we delve further into the world of Fleabag. With hope and faith at the core of Season 2, our heroine finds herself in the midst of a battle she is determined to win: Fleabag Vs God.
Scott Thomas and Shaw join a stellar principal cast for Fleabag’s series two, which includes returning cast members Olivia Colman (Godmother), Sian Clifford (Claire), Bill Paterson (Dad), Brett Gelman (Martin), Jenny Rainsford (Boo), Hugh Skinner (Harry) and Hugh Dennis (Bank Manager).
Shaw is a five-time Olivier Award nominee and won the Best Actress Award in both 1990 and 1994. She and Phoebe most recently worked together on the international hit series Killing Eve, where Fiona played the role of Carolyn Martens, the Head of the Russian Service at M16. Kristin Scott Thomas is a five-time Bafta and five-time Olivier Award nominee, who won the Bafta Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Four Weddings And A Funeral and the Olivier Award for Best Actress in 2008 for the Royal Court revival of The Seagull.
Thomas says: “Phoebe Waller Bridge cannot be ignored. She manages to hit core issues with sledgehammer brutality as she trips along with a spring in her step. I laughed helplessly as I binge watched the first brilliantly funny series and enjoyed being aghast at times. I was very flattered to be asked to be in series two.”
Shaw adds: “Phoebe’s mind is like nothing else.”
Phoebe Waller-Bridge comments: “They literally begged me to be in it. Begged me. Begged. One of them was crying.”
Andrew Scott joins Fleabag cast for Season 2
23rd August 2018
Andrew Scott has joined the cast of Fleabag for Season 2.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s award-winning BBC Three series, based on her own Edinburgh play, sees the comedian and actress play the dry-witted, angry, cash-strapped, grief-riddled, porn-watching eponymous young woman, who’s trying to come to terms with a recent tragedy.
The result was a smash hit, launching as the online channel’s most popular and acclaimed show of 2016 and has since gone on to sweep the boards at awards ceremonies, winning one BAFTA, two Royal Television Society awards, two Broadcast Awards and a British Press Guild Award, among others.
Since Season 1 aired, Waller-Bridge has enjoyed an equally stellar ride, playing the role of L3-37 in Solo: A Star Wars Story, and adapting and executive producing two-time Emmy Award nominated series Killing Eve, which launched to widespread acclaim in the US earlier this year and will be available in the UK on BBC One and BBC Three soon.
Now, as filming for Season 2 begins, Waller-Bridge’s eyes are back on Fleabag. Returning to co-star from Season 1 is a cast that includes Olivia Colman (Godmother), Bill Paterson (Dad), Sian Cliford (Claire), Brett Gelman (Martin), Jenny Rainsford (Boo) and Hugh Skinner (Harry). Now, that cast just got even more impressive, with the addition of none other than Andrew Scott.
Waller-Bridge says: “I can’t believe they let me do this AGAIN. I’m so happy to be back with the incredible Fleabag team and I’m as surprised as anyone about where this series has taken us… thank God for Andrew Scott.”
Shane Allen, Controller Comedy Commissioning at the BBC, adds: “The series two scripts are knockout – sparkling with Phoebe’s unique voice that combines a whip smart complexity of character with pin sharp funny lines scattered everywhere. The themes of this series are very distinct from the first series which delivers on the challenge Phoebe set herself. It’s a superb team and cast from top to bottom and with Fleabag you can never escape a reference to the bottom.”
Season 2 is directed by Harry Bradbeer, with Sarah Hammond producing, alongside exec producers Waller-Bridge, Harry Bradbeer, Lydia Hampson and Jack and Harry Williams for Two Brothers Pictures.

25th August 2017
BBC Three’s Fleabag will return for Season 2.
Speaking at Edinburgh Television Festival, creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge announced that a much anticipated second season of her BAFTA-winning comedy series will be coming to BBC Three.

It’ll be thrilling to see where she takes the character in the next series.”

It is produced by Two Brothers Pictures. The executive producers are Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Jack and Harry Williams, and Lydia Hampson is series producer.
