“I’m Strange.” “Indeed.”
The trailer for Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell has landed.
The BBC’s adaptation of the 2004 novel by Susanna Clarke follows the relationship between two magicians, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. But this is no Jonathan Creek: this is 19th century England. And magic is rarely seen or practiced.
Why? That’s the question that leads members of York’s magic society to seek out Norrell, who is a very practical magician. But when the carefree Strange (Bertie Carvel) starts to conjure spells too, the pair’s bond begins to be formed – something that could prove of great interest to England’s troops in the war against France.
The show premieres on BBC One in May and stars a cast that includes Eddie Marsan, Bertie Carvel – hot on the heels of his turn in Channel 4’s Coalition – Alice Englert and Marc Warren. We’ve seen the first two episodes already and, trust us: this is something special that you will not want to miss.
