BBC iPlayer releases trailer for original film The Rack Pack

“I’m an entertainer…” says Alex “Hurricane” Higgins in the new trailer for BBC iPlayer’s The Rack Pack.
Played by Luke Treadaway, the snooker legend lives up to that claim, as the film – iPlayer’s first scripted feature – follows his heated rivalry with Steve Davis (Will Merrick).
Also starring Kevin Bishop as Barry Hearn, the film explores the glory days of the Seventies and Eighties snooker scene, when huge characters became household names. Off the table, Nichola Burley plays Alex’s wife, Lynn Higgins, and James Bailey takes on the role of the greatest player never to be World Champion, Jimmy White.
It is written by Shaun Pye, Mark Chappell and Alan Connor, the team behind A Young Doctor’s Notebook, and directed by Brian Welsh (Glasgow Girls, Black Mirror).
The film will be released at 9pm on Sunday 17th January, almost exactly 30 years after Chas & Dave got together Davis, Dennis Taylor and Willie Thorne to record a song called Snooker Loopy. Will people go mad for the sport once again? You can read our review later this week – or read the cast and crew talking about how the project came about in our report from the movie’s premiere.
