David Farnor | On 27, Feb 2023
“I love you guys so much.” That’s the sound of Ted Lasso returning for Season 3 this March, and a new trailer gives us a closer look at what’s in store.
In the 12-episode third season of footballing comedy, the newly promoted AFC Richmond faces ridicule as media predictions widely peg them as last in the Premier League and Nate (Nick Mohammed), now hailed as the “wonder kid”, has gone to work for Rupert (Anthony Head) at West Ham United. In the wake of Nate’s contentious departure from Richmond, Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) steps up as assistant coach, alongside Beard (Brendan Hunt). Meanwhile, while Ted (Jason Sudeikis) deals with pressures at work, he continues to wrestle with his own personal issues back home, Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) is focused on defeating Rupert and Keeley (Juno Temple) navigates being the boss of her own PR agency.
Things seem to be falling apart both on and off the pitch, but Team Lasso is set to give it their best shot anyway. After all, you can’t always get what you want.
Season 3 will premiere on 15th March, with episodes then arriving weekly on Wednesdays, making Ted Lasso the first Apple TV+ series to launch midweek. Here’s the video:

First look: Ted Lasso returns for Season 3 this spring
21st January 2023
Ted Lasso has now officially scored a release date, with the show set to return for Season 3 this spring.
The comedy stars Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso, a small-time college football coach from Kansas who is hired to coach a professional soccer team in England despite having no experience coaching soccer. The series also stars Hannah Waddingham, Brendan Hunt, Jeremy Swift, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Phil Dunster and Nick Mohammed.
In addition to starring, Sudeikis serves as executive producer, alongside Bill Lawrence (Scrubs) via his Doozer Productions. The series was developed by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Joe Kelly and Brendan Hunt, and is based on the pre-existing format and characters from NBC Sports.
After winning the Emmy Award for Best Comedy Series for its second season, Ted Lasso officially joined the ranks of the most celebrated comedies in history, becoming only one of seven other comedies to win back-to-back Emmy Award wins for Outstanding Comedy Series for its freshman and sophomore seasons.
“Apple’s funny, thoughtful football series scores some surprising serious points in its confident second season,” we wrote in our review.
To go with the spring release date, Apple TV+ has also unveiled a first look at the new season providing a taste of what’s in-store for AFC Richmond – specifically, the much-anticipated showdown between Ted and Nick Mohammed’s Nate.
Apple TV+ renews Ted Lasso for Season 3
29th October 2020
Apple TV+ has given Ted Lasso another early renewal with a third season officially on the way.
While that sounds like an unlikely success, it has scored a winner for Apple TV+.
“Jason Sudeikis is hugely charming as a clueless football manager in this delightful, optimistic TV gem,” we wrote in our review, which called it the “nicest show of the year”.
The streaming service swiftly gave the green light for a second season. Now, just a couple of weeks after Season 1’s finale, a third season has also been greenlit. The move comes ahead of Season 2 starting production in London in January 2021.
