“I look back at my life and all I see are the messes I’ve made…” That’s the sound of a reckoning coming in The Boys, and a new trailer gives us a new look at Season 4.
The darkly comic series is based on the graphic novel by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. It asks what happens when superheroes abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. The Boys are a gang on a quest to expose the corrupt, immoral truth about “The Seven”, a team of famous heroes, and Vought – the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that protects them.
The Boys’ fourth season will take place about a month after the events of spin-off Gen V’s first season, with Season 4’s events then set to lead into Gen V Season 2. The world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power. Butcher has lost his job as The Boys’ leader and the rest of the team are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.
Season 4 premieres on 13th June, with the first three episodes arriving together, followed by episodes weekly until the finale on 18th July.

Gen V is a spin-off set in the diabolical world of The Boys – specifically, at Godolkin University, the prestigious superhero-only college where students train to be the next generation of heroes – preferably with lucrative endorsements. When the group of young supes discover that something bigger and sinister is going on at school, they have to decide whether to be the heroes or villains of their stories.
Their decisions will have ripples across The Boys’ fourth season, which will take place about a month after the events of the Gen V finale, with Homelander set to stand trial. Season 4’s events will then lead into Gen V Season 2.
Karl Urban will return as Billy Butcher, while Homelander, portrayed by Antony Starr, looks set for political success as well as courtroom drama. Also in the cast will be Simon Pegg as Hughie’s Dad, Rosemarie Dewitt as Hughie’s Mom, Rob Benedict and Elliot Knight, plus Susan Heyward (portraying Sister Sage), Valorie Curry (portraying Firecracker), Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Cameron Crovetti (promoted to series regular and returning as Ryan).

13th October 2022
Production is well underway on Season 4 of The Boys, and we’ve got our first look at two of the new supes joining the show: Sister Sage and Firecracker.
Now, we’ve got a glimpse of the new superheroes joining the ensemble. Susan Heyward will play Sister Sage, described as “already a thousand steps ahead of you”, while Valorie Curry will play Firecracker, who “has a short fuse”.
“Wait till you see Susan Heyward & Valorie Curry in action,” tweeted showrunner Eric Kripke. “Horrific & hilarious & very, very dangerous. Just who #Homelander needs for #TheSeven.”
They join another addition to the cast: Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who was announced as a recurring guest star back in August. Details on his character are under wraps.
Production is taking place in Toronto.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan joins The Boys Season 4
25th August 2022
Jeffrey Dean Morgan has joined the cast of The Boys for its fourth season.
“The show doubles down on its political satire and goes even deeper with its themes,” we wrote in our review of the third season, which debuted last week.
Chuffed to welcome @JDMorgan to The Boys S4. Can't confirm if he's gettin' any tights, though. pic.twitter.com/ApDpQgo0QC

Now, with filming underway, the series has already found its next super star to join the ensemble, with Morgan officially added to the line-up. His character is being kept under wraps for now, but the Walking Dead actor will be a recurring guest star. The casting marks a reunion between Morgan and The Boys’ showrunner Eric Kripke, who was creator of Supernatural, in which Morgan starred – and, in an it’s-a-small-world twist, played the father of Dean, who was played by Jensen Ackles, the major addition to The Boys’ third season as the villainous Soldier Boy.
It’s also, in some ways, the fulfilment of a long-held promise, with both Morgan and Kripke saying publicly before that they would love for him to be in The Boys.
In a heartbeat!

Amazon renews The Boys for Season 4
10th June 2022
Amazon has renewed The Boys for Season 4.
The eight-episode third season sees Laurie Holden join the cast as Crimson Countess, Sean Patrick Flanery as Gunpowder, Miles Gaston Villanueva as Supersonic and Nick Wechsler as Blue Hawk, along with Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles), a WWII soldier who became the first superhero celebrity. And, of course, The Boys are back, led by Karl Urban’s Billy.
Over the first three days of its third season, the worldwide audience for The Boys has grown by 17 per cent from Season 2, and 234 per cent from Season 1. Now, within a week of that premiere, Amazon has officially ordered a fourth chapter.
“From our first conversation with Eric Kripke and the creative team about Season Three of The Boys, we knew the show was continuing to get even bolder—an impressive feat considering the wild success of the Emmy-nominated second season,” said Vernon Sanders, head of global television, Amazon Studios. “The Boys continues to push boundaries in storytelling while also being relentlessly entertaining and threading the needle on social satire that feels all too real. This stylized world of the series has incredible global reach and the viewership for opening weekend is proof of that. We are immensely proud of the cast and crew that has spawned a franchise for Prime Video, and we look forward to bringing more of The Boys to our customers.”
“Speaking for the cast and crew, we’re so grateful to Sony, Amazon, and most of all the fans for embracing the show and allowing us to make more,” said Eric Kripke, The Boys showrunner. “We’re thrilled to continue Butcher and the Boys’ fight against Homelander and the Seven, as well as comment on the insane world we’re living in. Also, this is the first time in history that exploding genitalia has led to further success.”
The Boys franchise also now includes an eight-episode anthology animated series, The Boys Presents: Diabolical, as well as an untitled spin-off set at America’s only college exclusively for young-adult superheroes, which is currently in production.
