Jack Ryan to end with Season 4 this June
James R | On 13, May 2023
Jack Ryan will end with its fourth season this June.
The spy thriller, based on Tom Clancy’s novels, has been a huge hit for the online giant, with John Krasinski playing the CIA analyst who was thrust into a dangerous field assignment for the first time in Season 1. Season 2 was ordered before the first had even been released, and the same early green light was given to Season 3.
Now, it will return for one last chapter, just six months after its third run. The six-episode season finds the titular character on his most dangerous mission yet: facing an enemy both foreign and domestic. As the new CIA Acting Deputy Director, Jack Ryan is tasked with unearthing internal corruption, and in doing so, uncovers a series of suspicious black ops that could expose the vulnerability of the country. As Jack and the team investigate how deep the corruption runs, he discovers a far-worse reality: the convergence of a drug cartel with a terrorist organisation, ultimately revealing a conspiracy much closer to home and testing our hero’s belief in the system he has always fought to protect.
Returning alongside Krasinski will be Wendell Pierce as James Greer, Michael Kelly as Mike November, and Betty Gabriel as CIA Acting Director Elizabeth Wright, plus Abbie Cornish as Cathy Mueller. Joining the cast this season are Michael Peña as Domingo Chavez and Louis Ozawa as Chao Fah.
You can see them in action on 30th June, with the first two episodes arriving together followed by two episodes weekly until the finale on 14th July.
Amazon renews Jack Ryan for Season 4
19th October 2021
Amazon Studios has renewed Jack Ryan for a fourth season – and added two big names to its cast.
While the show has seen some shuffling around of showrunners in recent years, with Vaun Wilmott (Star Trek: Discovery) leading the writing team, it has also seen an impressive roster of acting talent, from series regulars to guest stars, including Wendell Pierce (The Wire) as James Greer and Abbie Cornish (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) as Cathy Mueller, Michael Kelly as a seasoned CIA officer and Noomi Rapace as a German intelligence agent.
Season 3 sees Marianne Jean-Baptiste join the ensemble as Elizabeth Wright, the Chief of Station. It finds Jack on the run and in a race against time, as he is wrongly implicated in a larger conspiracy and left out in the cold as a fugitive. Wanted by both the CIA and an international rogue faction that he has uncovered, Jack is forced underground, criss-crossing Europe, trying to stay alive and prevent a massive global conflict.
Now, with filming wrapped recently on Season 3, Amazon has renewed the programme for a fourth run – and added two more impressive names. Season 4 will see Michael Peña play an undisclosed role. More surprising is the return of Abbie Cornish as Mueller, who disappeared after the first season. Despite not being mentioned at all in Season 2, however, she was not officially written out. Whether Season 3 continues any clues to her return in Season 4 is yet to be seen.
