Trailer: Amazon’s Lore promises to terrify your eyes as well as your eyes

“Folklore has given a voice to our fears…” That’s the voice of Aaron Mahnke from horror podcast Lore, as the series make the leap from your ears to your eyeballs.
Amazon’s new show, from the Executive Producer of The Walking Dead and the Executive Producer of The X-files, consists of six separate stories, each one based on real people and events that have led to our modern-day myths.
Featuring Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day), Kristin Bauer van Straten (True Blood), Adam Goldberg (Fargo) Holland Roden (Teen Wolf), Colm Feore (House of Cards) and Campbell Scott (The Amazing Spider-Man), the show combines documentary footage, narration, historical mixed media and cinematic scenes to bring to life its stories. They include a boy given a doll that seems to have a sinister life of its own, a family whose home appears to be inhabited by a spirit from the other side, and a German village that hunts for a murderous creature.

Amazon’s new horror series Lore will land on Friday 13th, the streaming service has confirmed.
Based on the popular podcast of the same name, which has an average of 5 million monthly listens, the anthology series presents the frightening and often disturbing tales based on real people and events that have led to our modern-day legends.
Featuring Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day), Kristin Bauer van Straten (True Blood), Adam Goldberg (Fargo) Holland Roden (Teen Wolf), Colm Feore (House of Cards) and Campbell Scott (The Amazing Spider-Man), the show combines documentary footage, narration, historical mixed media and cinematic scenes to bring to life terrifying, but true stories. Celebrating the origins of the horror genre, Lore explores the tales behind pop culture’s horror myths, such as vampires, changelings, werewolves, séances and possessed dolls.
Launched in March 2015 by Aaron Mahnke, the podcast Lore has generated a massive audience, was named “Best of” in 2015 and 2016 by Apple, and was listed as one of the “15 podcasts you need to hear in 2016” by Entertainment Weekly. The first book in Mahnke’s three-book series, The World of Lore, will be published on 10th October by Del Rey Books.

Teen Wolf’s Holland Roden joins Amazon’s Lore

Amazon’s Lore continues to build its central cast, with the addition of Holland Roden.
The Teen Wolf star is a natural fit for the horror series, which is based on the podcast of the same name. The audio show, which brings in 2.5 million listens every month, to the screen, telling spooky unscripted tales of true events. Amazon is adapting that into a 10-part anthology for the screen, with Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead), Ben Silverman (The Office) and Howard T. Owens (The Biggest Loser) on exec producing duties.
Roden will play a lead role in one of the episodes as Bridget Cleary, wife of Michael Cleary (the recently cast Cathal Pendred).
Living in Ireland in 1895, with fiery red hair, she is a dressmaker and an egg dealer who lives with her husband Michael in an Irish labourer’s cottage, is how Deadline reports her character. “An exceptional woman, she’s been liberated by the invention of the sewing machine and the refrigerated railway car, and she’s making a lot more money than her husband. When her tongue gets a little too pert for Michael’s liking, Bridget must prove the impossible: that she’s the true Bridget Cleary and not a fairy’s changeling.”
David Chiu and Patrick Wall have written the episode, with Thomas J. Wright at the helm.
Roden, who has also appeared in Grey’s Anatomy, Criminal Minds and Community, will next be seen in Syfy’s series Channel Zero.
Amazon’s Lore TV series finds male lead

Amazon’s TV series based on the Lore podcast has found its first male lead: UFC fighter turned actor Cathal Pendred.
Pendred, who hung up his MMA belt last year, has appeared in a range of TV projects, from Ray Donovan to AMC’s Into the Badlands. Now, he’ll be stepping into the first confirmed main role in Amazon’s original show, Lore, which will transpose the horror podcast, which brings in 2.5 million listens every month, to the screen, telling spooky unscripted tales of true events.

Pendred will play Michael Cleary, a cooper who makes barrels for a local creamery. When his young wife, Bridget, starts to make more money than him, he becomes convinced that she’s been replaced by a changeling is determined to prove himself right. Leary is a real life character from Irish folklore, forming one of the many tales set to make up the creepy anthology. He joins the previously announced Robert Patrick, whose role remains a secret.

Amazon’s TV adaptation of Lore has picked up its first cast member: Robert Patrick.
Yes, the star of Terminator 2 himself will appearing in the TV series, which is based on the horror podcast. The project, which was announced last year, will see Amazon build upon the podcast, which brings in 2.5 million listens every month, to tell spooky unscripted tales of true events.
Launched in March 2015 by Aaron Mahnke, Lore was named “Best of 2015” by iTunes and one of the “15 podcasts you need to hear in 2016” by Entertainment Weekly. Amazon will be spinning that into 10 episodes, exec produced by Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead), Ben Silverman (The Office) and Howard T. Owens (The Biggest Loser).
“Just as Mahnke revolutionised the serial podcast, Amazon is reinventing the unscripted series—and I couldn’t be more excited about the mashup,” said Hurd when the project was announced. Now, the Terminator 2 producer will be reuniting, to some extent, with metallic leading man Patrick.
There is little confirmed about what Patrick’s role will be, with Lore’s people staying tight-lipped about the whole thing.

Deadline reports that it will be a “meaty part”, for what it’s worth. What we do know, though, is that he’ll be filming it this spring, while on hiatus for CBS series Scorpion.
Hurd, meanwhile, is joined behind the scenes by fellow EPs Brett-Patrick Jenkins (Face Off) and Aaron Mahnke, with Glen Morgan (X-Files) attached as showrunner.
The show is slated to be produced by Propagate Content and Valhalla Entertainment, with a tentative release date of later this year.

Amazon has ordered an anthology horror series based on the podcast Lore.
The show, which has over 2.5 million monthly listens, will inspire the Amazon original series, which will feature unscripted tales dealing with frightening, psychologically disturbing, and often paranormal true events that have spawned modern-day nightmares.
Lore combines narration, historical mixed media and dramatic scenes to bring to life terrifying but true stories. Celebrating the origins of the horror genre, Lore explores the real-life stories behind pop culture’s most legendary horror characters and myths, such as vampires, zombies, werewolves, ghosts, serial killers and witches. Launched in March 2015 by Aaron Mahnke, Lore was named “Best of 2015” by iTunes and one of the “15 podcasts you need to hear in 2016” by Entertainment Weekly.
The 10-episode programme will be exec produced by Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead), Ben Silverman (The Office) and Howard T. Owens (The Biggest Loser).
