Amazon finalises NBCUniversal deal for Heroes, Battlestar and more

Amazon has finalised a deal with NBCUniversal for shows such as Heroes, Battlestar Galactica and more on Prime Instant Video.
US TV series such as Parks and Recreation, Suits and Grimm have already been added to the streaming service in recent weels, while the US version of The Office and Heroes have been available for some time. Amazon’s latest deal will renew any existing titles, ensuring that series such as Battlestar Galactica will still be available for members.
The announcement follows a string of similar deals to secure exclusive or original content, as Amazon establishes itself as a higher profile rival to fellow subscription video on-demand service Netflix.
Amazon made waves earlier this year when it rebranded LOVEFiLM Instant as Prime Instant Video, a major move that it followed with the revival of BBC’s Ripper Street for a third season.
Amazon now boasts Warner Bros’ animated series Beware the Batman, Michael Bay’s pirate show Black Sails, starring Toby Stephens, not to mention History’s Vikings, which has now spanned an impressive two seasons.
