Alden Ehrenreich has joined the cast of Ironheart, the Marvel series for Disney+.
The show, which was announced back in 2020, stars Dominique Thorne as genius inventor Riri Williams, who creates the most advanced suit of armour since Iron Man himself, Tony Stark.
Since then, we haven’t heard much about the project, but things have kicked into gear in recent months, with Chinaka Hodge hired to be head writer on the project and Hamilton’s Anthony Ramos signing on in a mystery role.
Equally mysterious is the latest star casting decision, with Ehrenreich reportedly tapped to play “a key role”, but with no further details revealed. With Ehrenreich no stranger to the Disney fold, having played Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story, and with a CV that ranges from Hail, Caesar! to Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, it’s equally plausible that he could be playing a villain or a hero in the series.
Deadline reported earlier this year that Thorne’s Williams is likely to make a debut in the upcoming sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which means that we will likely soon start to hear more details about her solo outing.
