Stranger Things: Season 4, Part 2
“It might not work out for us this time.” Those are the ominous words from the trailer for Volume 2 of Stranger Things Season 4. The two-part finale for the fourth chapter builds on the super-sized Volume 1 with a total runtime of almost 4 hours.

The Terminal List
Based on the best-selling novel by Jack Carr and written by showrunner David DiGilio, the series stars Chris Pratt as a former Navy SEAL who investigates why his entire operation unit was ambushed during a do-or-die mission. Helping him and hindering him is a cast that includes Constance Wu, Taylor Kitsch, Riley Keough, Jai Courtney and Patrick Schwarzenegger. All episodes arrive together.

The Baby

Black Bird
Starring Taron Egerton as Jimmy Keene, alongside Paul Walter Hauser, Greg Kinnear and Ray Liotta, this six-episode thriller is inspired by actual events. When high school football hero and decorated policeman’s son, Jimmy Keene (Taron Egerton) is sentenced to 10 years in a minimum security prison, he is given the choice of a lifetime – enter a maximum-security prison for the criminally insane and befriend suspected serial killer Larry Hall (Paul Walter Hauser), or stay where he is and serve his full sentence with no possibility of parole. Keene quickly realizes his only way out is to elicit a confession and find out where the bodies of several young girls are buried before Hall’s appeal goes through. But is this suspected killer telling the truth? Or is it just another tale from a serial liar? Episode 1 and 2 arrive at once, with remaining episodes arriving weekly.

The Girl from Plainville
Based on the Esquire article by Jesse Barron, The Girl From Plainville stars Elle Fanning as Michelle Carter and is inspired by the true story of her unprecedented “texting-suicide” case. The limited series explores Carter’s relationship with Conrad Roy III and the events that led to his death and, later, her conviction of involuntary manslaughter. Alongside Fanning, the series stars Chloë Sevigny as Lynn Roy, Colton Ryan as Conrad Roy III, Cara Buono as Gail Carter, Kai Lennox as David Carter, and Norbert Leo Butz as Conrad Roy II. New episodes arrive weekly on Sunday.

Breeders: Season 3
Breeders continues its bittersweet look at the struggles of modern parenthood. Season 3 starts days after Season 2 ended, as the Worsley family reels from teenaged Luke (Alex Eastwood) punching his dad, Paul (Martin Freeman). Paul’s moved out and is staying at his mother-in-law Leah’s (Stella Gonet) house. He should be lonely but actually the simpler life has its appeal. Eventually, though, amends with Luke must be made. Meanwhile Ally (Daisy Haggard) has her own problems – with work, with her early menopause and with her increasingly strained relationship with her newly adolescent daughter, Ava (Eve Prenelle). Gallows humour and large glasses of wine only go so far in quelling the angst… Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones, Miranda) also joins the cast as a guest-star throughout the season. All episodes arrive at once.

Proms 2022

Maryland

First seen at the Royal Court in London in 2021 and a fictional artistic response to recent real-life events, Maryland by Lucy Kirkwood grapples with the violence women are forced to reckon with in their everyday lives. This new 30-minute adaptation, co-directed with acclaimed documentary-maker Brian Hill, tells the story of two everywomen, both called Mary, and a chorus of modern day furies as they deliver their stories of assault.
Zawe Ashton and Hayley Squires play the lead roles of two individual Marys who meet at a police station in the aftermath of their respective sexual assaults. Guiding them through this world is police constable Moody (Daniel Mays) and his colleague PC Eddowes (Justine Mitchell). They are supported by a cast of Furies who rail against the injustices the women face, both in the events of the play and in the wider world.

Trying: Season 3

The 10-episode series unravels the mystery of a nightmarish town that traps all who enter. Unwilling residents fight to keep a sense of normalcy and search for a way out, while they battle to survive the threats of the surrounding forest, filled with terrifying creatures that come out when the sun goes down. The show has already been renewed for a second season.
