Netflix. Amazon Prime Video. BBC iPlayer. NOW. Walter Presents. Apple TV+. There’s so much TV to watch these days in so many places that it can be hard to keep up. Every month, we boil down what’s on the box to the essentials you need in your streaming queue.
This month, that ranges from the second run of Ricky Gervais’ moving After Life to the return of 2018’s most gripping, unexpected thriller to the reunion of Eve and Villanelle in Killing Eve’s third season – not to mention Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s new comedy, Run. Footballing fans can look forward to more from Sunderland FC, while action lovers will be delighted to cash in for a fourth season of Money Heist or the debut of Gareth Evans’ epic new thriller Gangs of London. Red Dwarf: The Promised Land
The 90-minute outing is the 13th instalment of the long-running sci-fi comedy, with Chris Barrie (Rimmer), Craig Charles (Lister), Danny John-Jules (Cat) and Robert Llewellyn (Kryten) returning to the ship – and Norman Lovett joining them to reprise his role of Holly, the ship’s computer.
Three million years ago, David Lister, a vending machine repairman, was sentenced to 18 months in suspended animation for smuggling his pregnant cat aboard the mining ship Red Dwarf. While Lister remained in stasis, a radiation leak killed the rest of the crew. Safely sealed in the hold, the cats evolved into humanoid form. The cats now roam deep space in a fleet of their own…

Killing Eve: Season 3
Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh return for a third season of the enjoyably twisted cat-and-mouse thriller. For Villanelle (Jodie Comer), the assassin without a job, Eve (Sandra Oh) is out of the picture. As for Eve, the ex-MI6 operative is hiding in plain sight, hoping that Villanelle will never find her. All seems fine until a death sets them on a collision course yet again. The journey back to each other will cost both of them friends, family, and allegiances – and perhaps a share of their souls.

Quiz
Quiz tells the extraordinary and sensational story of how Charles and Diana Ingram attempted an audacious heist on the quiz show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?. Major Ingram (Matthew Macfadyen), his wife Diana (Sian Clifford) and an accomplice, Tecwen Whittock, who was sitting in the audience, were accused of cheating their way to a million pounds on what was the most popular game show on earth in 2001. The couple stood trial for conspiring by coughing during the recording to signify the correct answers to the multiple choice questions posed to the Major by host Chris Tarrant (Michael Sheen). The three-part drama is adapted by James Graham from his own play, which weaves true life suspense with topical, state-of-the-nation insight.

Run: Season 1
Written and produced by Vicky Jones, this half-hour comedy series sees her team up with her Fleabag and Killing Eve co-creator Phoebe Waller Bridge in an executive producer role for a story about leaving it all behind. Ruby Richardson (Merritt Wever) walks away from her ordinary life in the suburbs to revisit her past with her college boyfriend, Billy Johnson (Domhnall Gleeson). The two made a pact 17 years earlier: If either one of them texted the word “RUN” and the other replied with the same, they would drop everything and meet in Grand Central Station and travel across America together. If the names involved haven’t already caught your attention, the laughs they deliver certainly will.

An eight-episode, multi-dimensional tech thriller comes from the brilliant mind of British producer, writer and director Alex Garland. After her boyfriend Sergei’s apparent suicide, Lily suspects foul play and begins to investigate.

A Mother’s Son
The small coastal town of East Lee, in Suffolk, is thrown into turmoil when Lorraine, a teenage girl, goes missing and is found murdered. Their family holiday is overshadowed by the threat that a killer might be present in the midst of their ‘safe’ town. The 10-part series, which airs on ESPN in the USA, tells the story of how Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls came to dominate and define basketball in the 1990s. The basketball star remains a sporting legend even decades after the peak of his NBA career. The documentary, directed by Jason Hehir (The Fab Five, The ’85 Bears, Andre the Giant), charts the simultaneous rise of Jordan and the NBA, boasting more than 500 hours of never-before-seen footage from the Bulls’ last championship run in the 1997-98 season. Episodes arrive in pairs every Monday.
