Here’s the rundown of what’s on the way:
The Other Mother
Country: France
Episodes: 6
This twisted psychological thriller sees a young boy claim that his mother isn’t his real mother. Despite being urged by a psychologist to take up the case, the police face a tough choice; risk allowing the boy to stay with the wrong parents, or trust the word of a child and ruin a family’s life forever?
Vasile believes him. Police captain Marianne, however, is much more sceptical and is already occupied solving a serious robbery in which millions of euros have been stolen and two fugitives are still at large. But they are running out of time; Malone’s memories are fading fast and if his story is not just child’s play, it would be criminal to ignore it. Can you trust a young child with an overly active imagination? Or could this be a sophisticated case of kidnapping? Forced together by the case, Vasile and Marianne embark on a passionate affair, further complicating two investigations that could be more intertwined than they appear.
Episode 1 premieres at 11pm on Channel 4 on 3rd May, with the whole box set available on All 4
The Swingers: Season 4
Country: Netherlands
Episodes: 10
The fourth instalment of the hit Dutch drama sees Eva escaping from the troublesome neighbourhood in a desperate attempt to keep from having to return her adoptive daughter to her biological father. Trying to stay ahead of the authorities, Eva flees to Sardinia with the aid of an intriguing stranger named Olivier and his seductive partner Victoria. They help her settle down and become her neighbours on the island. She starts to build a life again for her and Roosje, but soon enough it turns out her new home is not the safe-haven she hoped it would be. Back home in Holland, Peter is released from hospital only to find his wife and daughter missing. At the first clue that Eva and Roosje might be in Sardinia, Peter jumps on the next plane, not knowing that it might already be too late to protect them from harm.
Daan Schuurmans and Bracha van Doesburgh, who are married in real life, star as Peter and Eva.
The whole box set is available on All 4 from 15th May.
Philharmonia
Country: France
Episodes: 6
A Black Swan set in the orchestra – or Mozart in the Jungle, but serious – this tense and moving psychological thriller following renowned conductor Hélène who returns to Paris to take over an orchestra known as “the maestro killer”.
When the conductor of national orchestra Philharmonia suddenly dies, Hélène is called back to Paris to take over after 20 years conducting in New York. Despite her unusual methods, she is hired against the advice of the director and musicians and has one season to prove her worth and save the orchestra. Hélène has no time to lose and almost immediately replaces the first violin, pillar of the orchestra, with 20-year-old Selena, much to the orchestra’s disdain. Selena reminds Hélène of a younger version of herself, and she is determined to make this young prodigy her successor. But now she is back in her home town, she is forced to face the family demons that sent her into exile in the first place.
Will music be able to save her – and the 120 musicians under her baton – from sickness… and death?
Episode 1 premieres at 11pm on Channel 4 on 31st May, with the whole box set available on All 4
