What’s coming soon to Shudder UK in January 2020?

A new year only means new opportunities to have the life frightened out of you, and Shudder’s here to help. AMC’s subscription service, dedicated to horror, is kicking off the new year with its new original series The Dead Lands, based on the excellent 2014 movie of the same name, along with exclusive arrivals The Marshes, Bliss and Body at Brighton Rock.

Heathers – 1st January
Veronica (Winona Ryder) is part of the most popular clique at her high school, but she disapproves of the other girls’ cruel behaviour. When she and her new boyfriend, J.D. (Christian Slater), confront clique leader Heather Chandler (Kim Walker) and accidentally poison her, they make it appear a suicide.
All Cheerleaders Die – 6th January
A rebellious teen convinces the cheerleaders to take down the captain of the football team until a supernatural problem thrusts the young women into a new battle in this 2013 horror comedy.
The Marshes – 9th January
In the middle of nowhere is a labyrinthine marshland teetering on the verge of extinction. Dr. Pria Anan is committed to saving it, using diligence and reason to fight the forces that threaten its existence. With the help of rival Ben and assistant Will, Pria is certain she is in control. But soon fear manifests in the form of a horrifying evil, forcing the team to abandon their efforts to save the marsh and focus on saving themselves. Starring Dafna Kronental, Sam Delich and Mathew Cooper, directed by Roger Scott.
Cub – 13th January

Body at Brighton Rock – 20th January
Wendy, a part-time summer employee at a mountainous state park, takes on a rough trail assignment at the end of the season, trying to prove to her friends that she’s capable enough to do the job. When she takes a wrong turn and ends up deep in the backcountry, she stumbles upon what might be a potential crime scene…
Torment – 20th January
DescriptionNewlyweds (Robin Dunne, Katharine Isabelle) and their young son find themselves at the mercy of sadistic madmen who secretly took up residence in their remote country home in this 2013 Canadian horror.
The Dead Lands – 23rd January
A supernatural adventure set in a mythic Māori past, with an aesthetic that’s part Ash vs Evil Dead and part Xena: Warrior Princess. The Dead Lands features a murdered Māori warrior, Waka Nuku Rau (Te Kohe Tuhaka), who’s sent back to the world of the living to redeem his sins. But the world Waka returns to is ravaged by a breach between Life and the Afterlife as the spirits of the newly dead now stalk the land and hunt the living. Episode 1 and 2 premiere together, with new episdes then released weekly.
When Animals Dream – 27th January
Teenage Marie lives on a small island with her father and catatonic mother. Virtually friendless and sullen, Marie begins to experience frightening changes in her body that mark her as a dangerous threat.
Bliss – 30th January
A brilliant painter facing the worst creative block of her life turns to anything she can to complete her masterpiece, spiraling into a hallucinatory hellscape of drugs, sex, and murder in the sleazy underbelly of Los Angeles. Starring Dora Madison, Tru Collins, Jeremy Gardner and Rhys Wakefield, directed by Joe Begos.
