What’s coming soon to Netflix UK in May 2023?
James R | On 01, May 2023
Netflix is expanding its Bridgerton franchise this week with Queen Charlotte, while also building on the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before universe with XO, Kitty, and getting the Fab Five back together for a new season in New Orleans, recruiting the Selling Sunset team for another round of business and reuniting with I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson for a third chapter of sketch silliness. They’re joined by new franchise hopefuls, from an Arnie-starring action series to animated comedy Mulligan and an action thriller starring Jennifer Lopez.
Here’s what’s coming soon to Netflix UK in May 2023:
Heat – 1st May
Michael Mann’s iconic actioner is an influential masterpiece on multiple fronts.
Sinister – 1st May

Escape Room: Tournament of Champions – 4th May
This entertaining, slick sequel swaps logical thrills for franchise potential.
Freaky – 4th May
Vince Vaughn and Kathryn Newton are hugely entertaining in this inspired body-swap horror-comedy.
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story: Season 1 – 4th May
From Shonda Rhimes, the Bridgerton prequel centres around the fictional love story of its titular royal (played as a young woman by Sex Education’s India Amarteifio) and her enigmatic king, George (Corey Mylchreest). Also in the cast are Brimsley (Sam Clemmett), dutifully trailing his queen, Princess Augusta (Michelle Fairley), young Lady Danbury (Arsema Thomas), and Bridgerton-era Lady Agatha Danbury (Adjoa Andoh), Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) and Bridgerton matriarch Violet (Ruth Gemmell).
Taskmaster: Season 1 to 6 – 8th May
Greg Davies and Alex Horne get people to do pointlessly silly things in this hilariously daft competition series.
Hannah Gadsby: Something Special – 9th May
Gadsby describing it as their first feel-good romantic comedy show – as they put it, “I believe I owe you one”. The special was filmed at the Sydney Opera House and covers their marriage to producer Jenney Shamash, as well as homophobic bakers, bogus wedding politics, queer domesticity and misadventures with roadkill.
Mulligan: Season 1 – 12th May
When most of Earth is destroyed by aliens, can a few survivors rebuild what’s left of America and form a more perfect union?
Queer Eye: Season 7 – 12th May
The Fab Five are back and these saints are marching in… to New Orleans!
The Mother – 12th May
Directed by Niki Caro from a script by Lovecraft Country’s Misha Green – plus Andrea Berloff and Peter Craig – and produced by Jennifer Lopez, the film follows a deadly assassin who comes out of hiding in the Alaskan wilderness to protect the daughter that she gave up years before, while on the run from dangerous men.
XO, Kitty: Season 1 – 18th May
This spin-off series from To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before follows Lana Covey’s sister, Kitty Song Covey, the teen matchmaker who thinks she knows everything there is to know about love. But when she moves halfway across the world to reunite with her long-distance boyfriend, she’ll soon realise that relationships are a lot more complicated when it’s your own heart on the line.
Astérix & Obélix: The Middle Kingdom – 19th May

From the producers of Queer Eye comes this personal, playful docuseries about mermaid enthusiasts.
Victim/Suspect – 23rd May
